The series "Behind the Rain Porto" (Portugal, 2022-24), is the third series in my project "Behind the Rain", in which the texture of rainy days is the basis for narratives that seek to reflect time, rhythm, the state of presence and our relationship with space in the contemporary world.
Exposed to the vulnerability of life and feeling the escalation of wars around the world, it was urgent for me to search for "color" in this series. Color as a metaphor for life. Synchronous with this was my desire to soften the image of a city which, due to its rainy winter, often receives the stigma of a gray and melancholic city. There is color!
The aesthetic result of the works in Behind the Rain is obtained by using the photographic technique at the moment the image is captured, and no digital post-production is used.
Photography is not an object. It's a sensation.
